How to Stay Comfortable On Your Wedding Day

Your wedding day is one of the memorable days of your life. Staying comfortable will help you look and feel your best so that you can enjoy this first day of the rest of your life. Here are a few tips that will ensure your comfort and help you focus on your joyful moments.

Keeping cool and stay in the shade

The Israeli summers are known for their intense heat and high humidity. To conquer the heat and stay cool:

  • Consider timing your wedding for evening time, when the sun sets. You will escape the prime time of the heat and enjoy a sunset wedding with the spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea (and enjoying its evening breeze)
  • Create areas of shade (by adding giant umbrellas and canopies) for you and your guests to minimize direct sun
  • Take family wedding photos in shaded areas or at times that would optimize your comfort. Often couples meet their photographer in local gardens and by the sea before the event
Choosing the right shoes and dress

When selecting your wedding dress make sure that it is not too tight so that you will be able to breathe and move comfortably wearing it. Pick your dress and shoes with the idea of being able to dance in it for as long as you wish.

Some couples in Israel choose to have an after party after the wedding, so brining an extra comfortable pair of shoes and select a second, less formal dress. Be comfortable so you can enjoy the party with your friends.

Arm yourself with the essentials

Sunglasses and sunscreen: Think ahead and choose a pair of sunglasses that fits you well. Assign one of your bridesmaids to be in charge of safeguarding them when you do not need them. Also, choose your sunscreen well ahead of time and make sure it will not interfere with your makeup.

Water and other essentials: Ask one of your bridesmaids to make sure you drink and stay dehydrated.  Another bridesmaid can ensure that you will have handy all other items you might need (sewing kit, make up wipes, extra nail polish, hair and safety pins, perfume and deodorant).

Pre wedding trials

A few weeks before your big day, take the time to try on your dress and shoes to ensure perfect fit for comfort. Wear your shoes and break them in if needed to avoid discomfort and post wedding blisters. Also try on your makeup and hairstyle to make sure you are fully satisfied with your look and comfortable in it.

Mental state

Take the time to relax and reflect before you big day so you can ensure your mental strength, calmness, and focus. You will be most comfortable if you are at inner peace. Schedule a fun activity with your bridesmaids or sweetheart, go over the preps for your big day, remember to breathe, stay comfortable, and enjoy every moment!
